The material in these shiurim is for informational purposes only and is not intended to provide any legal or halachic advice or opinion. This is not a substitute to obtaining competent halachic and legal advice from your Rav and/or lawyer, and consequently you should not act on the basis of this material without such advice.
Although each shiur is independent and can be listened to in any order, each series was designed in a way that will give the most understanding of the topic by listening to each shiur in order.
The original shiurim were interactive. To help the audio recordings “flow,” some of the conversation has been removed. Consequently, the length of the shiurim, which was originally 40-45 minutes, is shortened somewhat on these recordings. In the case of the first two series, which were especially interactive, most of the shiurim have been shortened down to the 25-30 minute range. It should also be noted that these shiurim (except those of the last series) were originally recorded on a cassette tape recorder. Therefore, once in a while, the concluding summary of the shiur extended past the life of the cassette. We are sorry that some of the recordings end abruptly in the middle of such a summary.
This site contains copies of the handouts that were used at the shiurim. Some reformatting might have occurred in producing this PDF file from the original handouts used. Therefore, if a shiur says to look at the second item on the handout, it might no longer be second. In addition, note that these were generally distributed at the shiur with the translated Gemaras (based on the ArtScroll Schottenstein edition) on the front and the other sources on the back. So in the shiur “the second side” refers to the second page of those in this file.
The person behind the idea of making these shiurim available to the public is R' Chaim Rosenberg of Hebrewbooks.org. Many thanks to his sponsorship of four of these series.
